Transponders
What they are, when you need one, and where to get one.
What is a transponder?
A transponder is a small electronic device attached to your bike that communicates with timing sensors embedded in the track. It allows automated, accurate race timing at regional and national events. The standard device used in UK BMX is the Mylaps Prochip FLEX Personal Transponder.
When do I need one?
Transponders are required when racing at Regional or National level. You do not need one for club races or coaching sessions at Runnymede Rockets.
Mylaps Prochip FLEX
The Prochip FLEX is a subscription-based transponder โ you buy the device along with a subscription plan. Plans are available in 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year durations. The device is lightweight and mounts easily to your bike frame.
